Is dark chocolate really healthier than milk chocolate?
Dark chocolate is higher in antioxidants, which are regarded as being healthy for you.
But dark chocolate is also higher in fat and calories than milk chocolate, so moderation
is the key!
Why don't you sell your caramel apples year around?
Because we can use apples from local orchards only in season (in the fall). We could
use apples from the market, but they would not be as fresh, or keep as long. We only
want to sell the very best!
Can I watch you make the chocolate treats?
Sure! There are windows you can look through to watch the chocolates being dipped
by hand.
Do you ship your products?
Yes, but only between the months of October through April.
What makes Red Wing Confectionery chocolate taste so good?
There are no preservatives or additives in our chocolate. Nothing can get the way of
that delicious chocolate flavor!
How is your manufacturing process different from the big chocolate manufacturers, and
why does that make your chocolate better?
In order to have chocolate look the best it can, the big companies add chemicals like
paraffin (wax). This lets them make large quantities quickly, but it does detract from
the taste. Red Wing Confectionery uses a process called 'tempering' - a method of
controlling the temperature and adding chocolate at just the right time. This takes
longer, and requires precise timing to succeed. But we do not have to add anything
else to our chocolate that would get in the way of that wonderful flavor!
